When building IoT networks in built-up areas, choosing the right antenna is crucial to reliably connect hundreds or thousands of sensors to the gateway. An antenna that is too strong (e.g., 10dBi) "overshoots" nearby sensors, while one that is too weak (e.g., 3dBi) doesn't achieve enough range. The HORIZON City hits the sweet spot exactly with 6dBi. Thanks to its targeted vertical beamwidth of 30 degrees, it is particularly well suited for mounting on building roofs or masts. The radio signal is spread over the city like a flat umbrella, capturing a maximum number of LoRa or Sigfox nodes.
Bandpass Filter: Your Shield Against LTE
Urban areas are swarming with cell towers transmitting at extremely high power. The LTE 800 MHz and GSM 900 MHz networks in particular are dangerously close to the license-free 868 MHz band and can literally "deafen" your gateway's receiver. Unlike cheap standard antennas, this Interline model features a hardware-integrated bandpass filter. Interfering signals are rigorously filtered out, resulting in clearer data transmissions, fewer packet losses, and extremely stable operation. All frequencies outside the working band are also short-circuited to ground (DC-Ground).
Weatherproof and Ready to Go
The omnidirectional antenna is made of durable, UV-resistant fiberglass (IP64) and easily defies wind, rain, and snow. It features a professional N Female connector on the bottom for connecting thick, low-loss coaxial cables (e.g., to RAK, MikroTik, Kerlink, or Cisco LoRa gateways). A suitable mounting bracket including a pipe clamp for attachment to an antenna mast is already included in the scope of delivery.
