Small but Mighty: The 2dBi Omni Antenna
Many users believe the bigger the antenna, the better. But that is not always true. This compact 2dBi stick antenna shows its strengths where an even distribution of the signal in the house is more important than maximum range in a single direction.
It is the ideal replacement for broken original antennas or to get older devices up and running again.
Why 2dBi is Often Better
High-gain antennas (e.g., 9dBi) flatten the signal to reach far – similar to a pancake. This is bad if you need reception on the floor above.
This 2dBi antenna, on the other hand, creates a spherical signal bubble. The signal is radiated not only to the side but also upwards and downwards. This makes it perfect for coverage across multiple floors (e.g., router on the ground floor, reception on the first floor).
Simply Screw On
The antenna features the RP-SMA connector standardized in the Wi-Fi world (thread inside, hole in the center). It therefore fits almost all routers (e.g., ASUS, TP-Link, Netgear), access points, or Wi-Fi cameras that have detachable antennas. Thanks to the hinge, you can place the antenna vertically even if the connection is horizontal.
