Ubiquiti AMO-2G10: Wi-Fi Through the Woods
Anyone who has to provide Wi-Fi to a campground or a complex corporate site knows the problem: 5 GHz is fast, but often fails at the first tree.
The AMO-2G10 utilizes the more robust 2.4 GHz band. Combined with its omnidirectional characteristic, it is the perfect "central distributor."
Why 2.4 GHz Omni?
1. All-Around: You place a mast in the middle of the area and serve all directions simultaneously. 2. Penetration: The signal "creeps" around corners and through foliage better than with 5 GHz antennas. 3. Compatibility: Since phones and laptops communicate directly on 2.4 GHz, this antenna (configured with a Rocket M2 as an Access Point) can also serve end devices directly – not just pure airMAX bridges.
Technical Finesse
With 10 dBi gain, it is strong enough for radii of several hundred meters (depending on obstacles). The vertical beamwidth of 12 degrees ensures that the signal does not pass flat like a laser disc over the users' heads, but also illuminates the ground area well.
