5G Vehicle Bundle | Teltonika RUTX50 Router & Poynting MIMO-4-17 Antenna

I spent a lot of time researching Wi-Fi and mobile network options for our camper van and finally decided on this bundle. When it arrived, I was immediately impressed with the components and had to install them right away.

Before installation, I first set up the router on my desk and configured it roughly. This was absolutely straightforward: plug it in, connect, set a password, connect to the existing Wi-Fi network, and you're good to go.

So, I leaned a ladder against the camper van, found a good spot for the roof antenna, and drilled a hole (you should have a larger step drill bit or a good round file, as the hole is a bit bigger than usual). The antenna comes with an adhesive strip, so it's already sealed; the nut on the inside is purely decorative.

The router found a nice spot inside, which wasn't a problem given its size. Just be aware that mounting hardware isn't included when ordering, but you can order it here at the same time. I also ordered a bare-end power cable. Now, just connect the antenna to the router (the necessary adapters for Wi-Fi are included), plug it in (mine uses 24 volts, but 12 volts works too), and you're good to go.

Setting up the mobile connection was also straightforward. The router allows you to forward SMS messages, which is perfect for my prepaid SIM card. This way, I receive SMS messages about my balance and remaining data allowance via email.

That covers the installation and setup. Now for our experiences on the road:

We had excellent internet access via our own Wi-Fi network throughout our trip. Upon arriving at the campsite, we entered the Wi-Fi access data into the router and were immediately able to surf the internet via our own Wi-Fi network. The automatic switch to mobile data upon our departure, as well as the seamless connection to our home Wi-Fi network upon arrival back home, worked flawlessly. Everything was quite simple and straightforward.

Thanks to the antenna's strong signal, I now have Wi-Fi at home even in areas where I previously had problems with our home Wi-Fi, despite it being closer. This provides us with a backup in case our DSL connection ever fails.

Besides the router's compact size, I particularly appreciate the discreetly glowing LEDs, which, unlike other RV products, don't illuminate the entire interior at night, but are clearly visible when you look at them.



Thanks to the router's excellent signal strength, I now have Wi-Fi even in areas where I previously had problems with our home Wi-Fi, even though it's closer. I give it a full 5 stars and a thumbs up.
