Teltonika RMS Credit: One Chip, Two Uses
Unlike the rigid annual licenses (Management Packs), the Single Credit offers you maximum freedom. It is the universal currency in the Teltonika ecosystem. It is important to understand that a credit can always fulfill only one function. It is "burned" upon use.
Scenario 1: The Credit as "Time License" (Management)
This is the standard case. You have a router and want to monitor it. The system automatically deducts 1 Credit from your pool on the due date. * Value: Your router is visible in RMS for 30 days, updatable, and sends alerts. * Consumption: If you have 5 routers, 5 credits are consumed every month. Note: In this function, the credit does NOT include VPN data volume!
Scenario 2: The Credit as "Data Package" (Connectivity)
You already have a running management license (or use credits for Scenario 1), but your 5GB free data volume for remote maintenance is used up? Now you can specifically convert credits into data volume. * The Exchange: You click on "Add Data" in the portal and sacrifice 1 Credit. * Value: You receive approx. 2 GB of traffic credited. You can now use this volume to access systems via VPN or RMS Connect.
Practical Calculation Example
You have a router that you want to operate for one month AND maintain remotely. 1. You need 1 Credit for the 30-day status (Management). 2. You need (optionally) 1 additional Credit to buy 2 GB of data volume for remote maintenance. Total requirement: 2 Credits.
When are Credits worthwhile?
Credits are perfect for irregular usage.
* If you operate a system for only 3 months a year, you pay only 3 credits.
* If you do a major remote maintenance only once a year, you buy data volume selectively.
For permanent installations (5 or 10 years), the fixed Management Packs are usually cheaper.
