The Ultimate 5G Reception Solution for Maritime Applications
The Poynting WaveHunter is not just an Antenna – it is a complete connectivity platform, developed for the most demanding maritime environments. Whether on a superyacht in the Mediterranean, a research vessel in the Arctic, or an offshore platform: this system is designed to ensure an extremely fast and fail-safe internet connection where standard solutions fail. By combining 5G, WiFi, and GNSS in a single, extremely robust Enclosure, you create a central communication hub for your entire vessel.
Maximum Performance: The Secret of the Antenna Enclosure
The decisive feature of the WaveHunter is its design as an Antenna Enclosure. Instead of sending the signal via long Coaxial Cables from the mast to the router, losing valuable signal strength, you bring the router directly to the antenna. Inside the WaveHunter, there is space for up to six high-performance 4G / 5G Routers. The included, only 75 cm long Coaxial Pigtails connect the router and antenna almost loss-free. The result: a better signal-to-noise ratio (SINR), higher data rates, and a more stable connection – especially in the critical 5G frequency bands.
Built for Eternity: IP69K Protection on the Open Sea
At sea, electronic devices are exposed to extreme stresses: saltwater, UV radiation, storms, and constant vibrations. The WaveHunter is not just prepared for these conditions with its IP69K protection class, but built for them. This certification guarantees complete protection against dust and even against high-pressure steam jet cleaning. The UV-stable E-glass radome and the base made of a massive aluminum heat sink not only ensure durability but also optimal thermal management of the internal 4G / 5G Routers. The MIL-STD 810G certification for salt spray resistance underscores the uncompromising quality standard.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is the Poynting WaveHunter a complete 5G Router?
No, the WaveHunter is a sophisticated Antenna enclosure. It contains the Antennas for 5G, WiFi, and GPS, but not the Router electronics themselves. You must install compatible 4G/5G Routers inside the enclosure to establish a functional internet connection.
Why is it better to install the Router inside the Antenna enclosure?
Every meter of Antenna Cable causes signal loss (attenuation), which reduces signal quality and thus data rate. By placing the Router directly at the Antenna, the cable is only a few centimeters long. This maximizes the received signal strength and ensures the best possible performance, especially at high 5G frequencies.
Can I use any Router in the WaveHunter?
The WaveHunter is designed to be compatible with most Routers, as long as they do not exceed the physical dimensions of 450 x 280 x 110 mm. Additionally, the Routers must have external Antenna connectors (typically SMA) to be connected to the WaveHunter's internal Cabling.
What does IP69K certification mean?
IP69K is the highest protection class for Enclosures. It means that the device is not only completely dust-proof but also withstands cleaning with high-pressure and steam jets from a short distance. For a marine Antenna, this means ultimate protection against heavy rain, incoming waves, and saltwater.
Does the Antenna offer 360-degree coverage or is it directional?
The WaveHunter is 'multi-directional'. It uses an intelligent array of 12 directional high-performance Antennas, strategically arranged to collectively achieve seamless 360-degree coverage with high gain. This combines the range of directional Antennas with the omni-directional coverage of an Omni-Antenna.
For which application areas is the WaveHunter designed?
It is specifically designed for demanding maritime applications where an extremely reliable and fast internet connection is essential. These include superyachts, commercial cargo and cruise ships, ferries, as well as fixed installations in ports or coastal locations under harsh weather conditions.
