Made for Professionals: The airMAX ac Protocol
Important to understand: The NanoStation 5AC Loco is not a typical WiFi Repeater. It uses Ubiquiti's proprietary airMAX ac protocol, which is based on a Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) method. This prevents data packet collisions and ensures an extremely stable connection with low latency, even in environments with many radio networks. It is therefore only compatible with other airMAX ac Components. Power is supplied via 24V Passive PoE. Suitable PoE Injectors / Power Supplies are available separately, as they are not included in the scope of delivery.

No, this is not possible. The NanoStation 5AC Loco uses the special airMAX ac Components protocol and is exclusively designed for communication with other airMAX ac Components devices to establish stable long-range connections (Point-to-Point or Point-to-Multi-Point).
Do I need one or two devices for a connection between two houses?
You absolutely need two devices. One is configured as an "Access Point" and the other as a "Station" to establish a stable wireless bridge (PtP-Link) for your Network.
How is the NanoStation 5AC Loco powered?
Power is supplied via the Ethernet Cables using Passive PoE (24V). A suitable PoE Injectors / Power Supplies is required but not included and must be purchased separately.
What does 'free line of sight' mean?
For optimal performance, there must be a direct, uninterrupted line of sight between the two radio stations. Obstacles such as trees, hills, or buildings will severely attenuate the signal or completely block the connection.
What is the easiest way to set up the device?
The easiest method is to use the UISP Mobile App on your smartphone. After powering on, the NanoStation creates its own WiFi Network for about 15 minutes, which you can connect to for configuration.
What range can I expect in practice?
Under ideal conditions with perfect line of sight, over 10 km are possible. In real-world scenarios with minor interference or imperfect alignment, stable connections over several kilometers are realistic.
