LWO-SFP28-SR-BT: The Robust 25G Upgrade
Modern servers and storage arrays deliver far more data today than a 10G line can handle. The LWO-SFP28-SR-BT is the answer: It nearly triples the throughput to 25 Gbps, while still using the familiar SFP form factor.
Why "BT" (Broad Temperature)?
Normal transceivers (Commercial) shut down above 70°C. In modern high-density servers or outdoor distributors (e.g., at 5G base stations), it often gets hotter.
The BT variant (Industrial Grade) is built with special components that guarantee an operating range of -40°C to +85°C. This ensures maximum reliability, even if the air conditioning fails.
Range at 25G (Important!)
Due to the high clock speed, the range on Multimode fibers decreases slightly compared to 10G. Please plan your cabling accordingly:
- OM3 Fiber (Aqua): Max. 70 meters.
- OM4 Fiber (Violet): Max. 100 meters.
For connecting within a rack or to the neighboring cabinet, this is more than sufficient and significantly cheaper than Single Mode optics.
Tech in Detail
The module uses an 850nm VCSEL laser. It supports the Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) function so you can monitor transmit power and temperature at any time. Furthermore, it is prepared for FEC (Forward Error Correction), which is essential for error-free transmission at 25G (must be supported by the switch).
