Turn Fiber into Copper

How is 2.5G possible over an SFP port?
A classic SFP port was originally limited to 1 Gbps. The fact that this module delivers 2.5 Gbps is due to modern chip technology. The physical form factor (the metal slot) has remained identical for 1G SFP and 10G SFP+. For this module to deliver its full 2.5G performance, the electronics in your switch must cooperate: The port must internally support 2.5G (often referred to as HSGMII), or you plug the module into a 10G SFP+ port that automatically clocks the speed down to 2.5G. Please check your switch's data sheet beforehand to ensure the selected port is 2.5G capable!
The 2.5G Sweet Spot
Networks are getting faster. Standard gigabit ports (1G) are increasingly becoming a bottleneck for modern Wi-Fi 6 access points or lightning-fast network attached storage (NAS). This module delivers full 2.5 Gbps bandwidth without you necessarily having to switch to the power-hungry and heat-intensive 10G technology. Best of all: Your standard Cat 5e or Cat 6 cables in the wall are perfectly sufficient for this!
Simple Installation (Plug & Play)
The SFP module is simply pushed into the slot of your switch or router until the latch clicks into place audibly. Then you plug in your RJ45 patch cable. Thanks to auto-negotiation, the module negotiates the appropriate speed with the end device entirely on its own. No drivers or complicated configurations are required.
