EKU OutLan 1000: Technical Excellence for Outdoors
The EKU OutLan is more than just a black cable. It is a precision instrument for data transmission under adverse conditions. For electrical planners and installers, not only the Gigabit values are decisive, but also the physical limits of the material during installation.
Critical Installation Parameters
High mechanical loads occur during long outdoor runs. The EKU OutLan is specified for a maximum tensile force of 340 Newton during installation. The bending radius is designed so that the twisting of the wire pairs remains intact even when routed around corners (dynamic 8x outer diameter), ensuring stable NEXT values.
EMC and Segregation Class
A decisive advantage for cable tray planning is shielding efficiency.
Thanks to the high-quality braid shield, the cable achieves a coupling attenuation of 85 dB (Type 1). This allows classification into Segregation Class d according to EN 50174-2. This means: The required minimum distance to parallel power lines is significantly lower than with standard cables – a huge advantage in narrow shafts or ducts.
PoE Performance over Distance
Due to the large conductor cross-section (AWG 23) and pure electrolytic copper, the cable has a very low loop resistance (approx. 154 Ohm/km). This minimizes voltage drop and heat generation, making the cable the perfect supply line for power-hungry PoE++ consumers (up to 90/100 Watts) at the end of a 90-meter run.
