Ubiquiti UCK-G2: Pocket-Sized Network Management
To configure and monitor a UniFi network (Guest Portal, statistics, firmware updates), you need the "UniFi Network Application".
Instead of running this software laboriously on a PC, simply plug the Cloud Key Gen2 into your switch. It is the dedicated "brain" that runs 24/7, consumes minimal power, and gives you worldwide access to your network.
Difference to "Gen2 Plus"
This is the most important question:
* UCK-G2 (this model): Manages ONLY the network (Switches, APs, Gateways). It has no hard drive bay. It is slimmer and smaller.
* UCK-G2-PLUS: Manages Network AND Cameras (Protect) because it has a hard drive.
Choose the UCK-G2 if you know for sure that you will never install cameras and are looking for an ultra-compact solution.
Built-in Safety
A common problem with databases is sudden power loss. The UCK-G2 features an integrated battery. If power (PoE) fails, the battery keeps the device alive for a few seconds to cleanly terminate all processes and shut down. Database corruption is a thing of the past.
