It's That Easy: Fiber Optic to the Antenna
Installing the F-POE-G2 is incredibly simple and extremely effective. You run two separate cables up the mast: a fiber optic cable for interference-free and extremely fast data transmission, and a DC power cable for energy supply. At the top of the mast, you connect both to the Fiber PoE Gen2. This converts the fiber optic data into an Ethernet signal and simultaneously feeds the required Power over Ethernet (PoE) directly into your radio device, such as a Ubiquiti airFiber 5XHD or other airMAX ac Components. The short piece of copper cable between the converter and the radio device is not critical, as the main connection to the building is securely isolated.
Power to Measure: Flexible Power Supply for Your Devices
The Ubiquiti Fiber PoE Gen2 is not a power supply in the traditional sense, but an intelligent power distributor. You can supply it with a DC voltage of 24V or 50V via a practical terminal block. The special feature: It outputs exactly this voltage as PoE on the RJ45 port. This gives you maximum flexibility in choosing your power source and ensures that your connected devices are optimally supplied. Alternatively, you can also use the F-POE-G2 as a pure media converter and realize the power supply for the end device via a PoE injector at the lower end of the line.
