LWO-SFPP-RJ45: The Turbocharger for Your Network
Fiber is great, but sometimes there is simply a copper cable already in the wall, or the server already has a 10G copper card installed.
With the LWO-SFPP-RJ45, you upgrade your switch. It converts the SFP+ bay into a fully-fledged 10G copper connection.
Important Heat Warning (Pro Tip)
Pushing 10 Gigabit over copper is physically demanding work. This module consumes approx. 2.5 to 3 Watts of power (a fiber module needs only ~0.5 Watts). This generates heat.
Our recommendation: Do not populate your switch "wall to wall" with these modules. Ideally, always leave one slot free (zebra pattern) or ensure good ventilation in the rack so that the switch does not overheat.
Range & Cables
Unlike 1G modules, the limit here is 30 meters. The physical signal is so high-frequency that it degrades over longer distances in copper cables.
You absolutely need high-quality cables:
* Cat.6a or Cat.7: For full 10G up to 30m.
* Cat.5e: Usually works only up to 2.5G or 5G (no guarantee for 10G).
