LWO-DAC-SFPP: The "Short Wire" for Your Rack
Why make it complicated when it can be simple? If you want to connect servers and switches within a rack (or to a neighboring rack), a fiber optic link is often "overkill" and unnecessarily expensive.
Our DAC Cables (Direct Attach Cable) are passive copper cables (Twinax) that have an SFP+ connector firmly integrated at both ends. The system is robust, resistant to dust, and ready for immediate use.
Which Length Do You Need?
We offer three optimized lengths for different scenarios:
- 0.5 Meter: Perfect for "stacking" – i.e., devices hanging directly above each other (port-to-port). No cable clutter!
- 1.0 Meter: The standard for connections within the same server cabinet (e.g., patch panel to switch).
- 3.0 Meter: Ideal for connecting devices at the very top with those at the bottom or jumping to the neighboring cabinet.
Technical Advantages over Fiber
On short distances, copper (DAC) is superior to fiber optics:
- More Robust: No fragile glass, no breaking, no dirty connectors.
- Faster: Lower latency (delay) as there is no conversion from electricity to light.
- Cooler: DAC cables consume no power and generate hardly any waste heat – relieving your cooling system.
