Powerline / DLAN

Powerline (also called DLAN) networks use the electrical cabling within a building. The advantage is that no complex network cabling is needed; you just use the normal power grid. The DLAN adapters are simply plugged into a free socket. After the adapters have "paired" and negotiated encryption, they can transmit data to one another.

The adapters have one or more RJ-45 sockets for a normal Ethernet cable, allowing you to connect any number of end devices. Your internet router can also be integrated, letting all connected devices use the internet connection.

High transmission rates (up to 1200 Mbps) are possible, and some modules also provide a WiFi signal. A prerequisite is that the sockets used are on the same electrical phase.
