Ubiquiti AI Theta: Surveillance That Merges with the Room
Conventional cameras are often bulky foreign objects on the ceiling ("warts"). In high-quality environments – be it the reception area of a law firm, a showroom, or a modern home – they disturb the aesthetics. The UVC-AI-Theta solves this problem radically through decentralization.
The "Split" Concept Explained
The system consists of two main components connected by a special USB-C cable:
1. The Hub: The "brain". This houses the processor, the LAN port, and the power supply (PoE). This box disappears completely into the ceiling cavity or behind a wall. It generates the heat and processes the data.
2. The Lens: Since no electronics for processing or networking need to sit in the lens housing, it is extremely small. Once mounted, it looks more like a small halogen spot or sensor.
High-End Tech in the Smallest Space
Don't be fooled by the size. The AI Theta is a technological powerhouse:
* 4K Sensor: It delivers images in 8-megapixel resolution. This allows for digital zooming without immediate loss of quality.
* Artificial Intelligence: The Hub possesses enough computing power for Advanced AI. The camera not only detects pixel changes but classifies objects (people, vehicles). This drastically reduces false alarms.
* Color Display: There is a small touch display on the Hub itself. This is brilliant for the installer, as they can immediately see the status and IP address during installation without having to climb a ladder.
Modularity & Audio
The AI Theta is an ecosystem. The Hub has two USB-C ports.
* Port 1: For the lens (the standard wide-angle lens is usually included in the box). However, there are also 360° fisheye lenses (sold separately).
* Port 2: For the optional Audio Module. Since the lens is so small, no good speaker fits inside. The separate audio module can be mounted elsewhere in the ceiling and offers professional 2-way audio.
