Ubiquiti UCG-Fiber: Your Fiber Connection, Simplified
With most fiber connections, you deal with three boxes: The fiber termination point, the provider's modem (ONT), and then your router.
The Cloud Gateway Fiber cleans this up. It replaces the modem and the router. Your fiber cable (SC/APC connector) plugs directly into the UCG-Fiber.
Controller & WiFi 6 Onboard
Technically, the UCG-Fiber is based on the platform of the popular UniFi Express. This means for you: 1. Integrated Controller: You don't need a Cloud Key. The device manages itself and up to 4 additional UniFi devices (switches/APs). 2. Strong WiFi: It broadcasts WiFi 6 directly. For small apartments, this is often enough as a standalone solution.
Important Note on Technology (GPON)
This device is specifically designed for GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network).
Many major providers use GPON. Others use AON or XGS-PON. Please check your contract details before purchasing to ensure which technology is active at your connection!
