Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch 24-250W: Command & Control
While the UniFi series stands for "Software Defined Networking," the EdgeSwitch (ES-24-250W) is the tool for the classic network engineer. It gives you direct control, right down to the command line.
The "Swiss Army Knife" of Power
The biggest problem in mixed installations is power. Modern cameras need 802.3af, but the older wireless bridge on the roof needs 24V Passive PoE.
The EdgeSwitch solves this: You can configure output per port.
* PoE+ / 802.3at/af: Auto-sensing for modern devices.
* 24V Passive: Manually activatable for Ubiquiti airMAX and legacy gear.
With 250 Watts of total power, it won't run out of juice easily.
Enterprise-Class Features
The ES-24-250W is not just a distributor; it can also handle router tasks. Thanks to Layer 3 functionality, you can set up static routing or use the switch as a DHCP server for your VLANs. This significantly unburdens your main router.
Fiber Uplink
Two dedicated SFP ports (1 Gbps) are available for connection to the next distribution point or the server room. This keeps the copper ports free for end devices.
