Instead of relying solely on Gigabit, Port 1 offers a full 2.5 Gigabit (2.5GBASE-T). This is the ideal slot for modern DOCSIS 3.1 cable modems, fiber ONTs, or high-performance Wi-Fi 6 access points. For the path to the core switch or NAS, you additionally have a fully-fledged 10G SFP+ cage at your disposal. All these ports are internally connected to a powerful switch chip, which is tied directly to the CPU with a massive 10 Gbps – bottlenecks are a thing of the past!
Homelab Hero and Rack Marvel
Despite its extreme performance, the RB5009UG+S+IN is surprisingly compact. The entire matte black metal casing acts as a giant passive heatsink, which is why the device operates 100% fanless and silently. It cuts an excellent figure on the desk, but shows its true potential in the server cabinet: With the optional rackmount kit "K-79", an incredible four of these routers can be mounted side-by-side in just a single 1U space in a 19-inch rack! Perfect for highly available setups or ISP nodes.
Power Outage? Not with the RB5009!
For smooth operation in mission-critical environments, MikroTik thought of power redundancy. You can operate the device via the included power adapter on the normal DC jack, feed it via PoE-In (802.3af/at) on Port 1, or use the 2-pin terminal on the side for industrial power supplies. If multiple sources are connected simultaneously, the router automatically and seamlessly selects the best one!
