Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can the MikroTik hAP ac Lite TC be used as a simple WiFi Repeater?
Yes, thanks to RouterOS, the device can be flexibly configured as a WiFi Repeater, WiFi Access Point, or in a mesh Network (with other MikroTik devices) to extend WiFi coverage.
Is the Router suitable for an internet connection with 250 Mbit/s?
No, because the Ethernet Switch ports are limited to 100 Mbit/s, the Router can provide a maximum of approximately 95 Mbit/s to end devices. For faster internet connections, a model with Gigabit Ethernet Cables ports (1000 Mbit/s) should be chosen.
Can I power another device via the hAP ac Lite TC?
Yes, Ethernet Switch port 5 offers a passive Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) output. This allows you to power a compatible device, such as an IP Camera, directly via the Ethernet Cables, provided the voltage and power requirements match.
Does the USB port support an external hard drive as Network Attached Storage (NAS)?
Yes, the USB port can be used for connecting external storage media. Via the Samba function in RouterOS, this storage can be made available on the Network as a simple file share (NAS).
Is the device easy to set up for beginners?
No, the setup is more complex than with standard WiFi Routers. Although there is a "Quick Set" mode, the full range of functions requires familiarization with the RouterOS interface. The device is less suitable for beginners without Network knowledge.
What does the RouterOS "Level 4" license mean?
Level 4 is the standard license for MikroTik Access Points and CPEs. It allows operation in AP, Point-to-Point, or Point-to-Multipoint mode and includes a limited number of active users for Hotspot, PPPoE, L2TP, and other tunnels. For SOHO use, this is more than sufficient.
