Professional Routing Performance for Your Network
The Ubiquiti EdgeRouter 6P is no ordinary Router. It's a high-performance machine designed to give your Network the stable and fast foundation it needs. With its powerful Quad-Core CPU, it handles a data throughput of up to 6 Gbps. This means bottlenecks are a thing of the past. Whether you want to fully utilize a fast fiber optic connection, manage a small business Network, or simply build an absolutely reliable home Network – this EdgeRouter delivers the performance you need for demanding applications.
EdgeOS: Full Control for Network Experts
What truly sets the EdgeRouter 6P apart is its operating system: EdgeOS. This software provides you with tools typically found only in expensive enterprise hardware. Set up secure site-to-site VPNs with IPsec or OpenVPN, segment your Network with VLANs for enhanced security and overview, or optimize data traffic with advanced QoS. Via the clear web interface or the powerful command-line interface (CLI), you have full control over every single setting. For professionals and ambitious users, this is the ultimate platform to design a customized and secure Network.
Robust, Silent, and with 24V Passive PoE
Performance doesn't have to be loud. The ER-6P comes in a compact and robust metal housing and is passively cooled. Its fanless design ensures absolutely silent operation, making it perfect for use directly at the workplace or in the living room. A special feature is the five Gigabit ports, all of which can output 24V Passive PoE. This allows you to power compatible Ubiquiti devices such as airMAX ac Components or older UniFi Access Points directly – without the need for additional PoE Injectors / Power Supplies.
Flexibly Connected: Gigabit Ethernet and SFP Port
The EdgeRouter 6P offers the connectivity variety that a modern Network requires. In addition to the five RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet ports, a dedicated SFP port is available. This enables direct connection to a fiber optic network for an extremely fast and interference-free uplink. This makes the EdgeRouter an ideal choice for use with modern fiber optic connections. You can, of course, also find suitable SFP / SFP\+ Modules from us. This combination of copper and fiber optic ports makes the ER-6P a future-proof investment in your Network infrastructure.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can the EdgeRouter 6P be used as a simple Ethernet Switch?
No, not efficiently. It does not have a dedicated switch chip. While the ports can be connected via a software bridge to behave like an Ethernet Switch, this burdens the CPU and drastically reduces overall performance. For pure switching tasks, a dedicated Ethernet Switch is the better choice.
Does the EdgeRouter 6P have integrated WiFi?
No, the ER-6P is a pure wired router. It does not have Antennas or radio modules and cannot establish a WiFi Network. To use WiFi, a separate WiFi Access Point must be connected to one of the ports.
Does the EdgeRouter 6P support standard PoE (802.3af/at)?
No, it exclusively supports 24V Passive PoE. It cannot power devices that require the 48V standard 802.3af (PoE) or 802.3at (PoE+). Compatibility must be checked before connecting a device. Consider using PoE Injectors / Power Supplies for incompatible devices.
How do I access the user interface of the EdgeRouter 6P?
By default, the router is accessible via the IP address 192.168.1.1. Connect a computer to port eth0, assign a static IP address to the computer in the same subnet (e.g., 192.168.1.10), and access the address in your web browser. The default username and password are 'ubnt'.
What is the main difference between the EdgeRouter 4 and the EdgeRouter 6P?
Both are based on the same powerful hardware platform. However, the ER-6P features five instead of three RJ45 ports, all of which can output 24V Passive PoE, and is powered by an external Power Supply. The EdgeRouter 4 has no PoE capability and an internal Power Supply, unlike the versatile EdgeRouter.
Can I manage the router with my smartphone?
Yes, the EdgeRouter 6P is supported by the UISP Mobile App. After initial setup, the router can be integrated into the management system and subsequently monitored and configured via the app on your smartphone, enhancing your Network control.
