Do I need a special router for the Poynting MIMO-4-4?
You need a 4G / LTE Routers or 5G Routers that has four external antenna connections for the cellular modem (typically SMA connectors) to fully utilize the 4x4 MIMO functionality. Routers with only two connections can use the antenna, but will not achieve its maximum performance. Consider options from Teltonika LTE / 5G Routers or MikroTik Routers for optimal performance.
How complicated is the antenna installation?
Installation is flexible thanks to various Mounting Systems and options. For roof mounting, a hole must be drilled to route the Antenna Cables inside. Alternatively, adhesive mounting can be done without drilling. The cables must then be correctly connected to the appropriate ports on the router. Basic DIY skills are beneficial. What is the difference between the MIMO-4-4 and other Poynting MIMO Antennas?
The MIMO-4-4 is a pure 4x4 MIMO cellular antenna. Other models in the MIMO-4 series, such as the MIMO-4-17 or MIMO-4-19, are '7-in-1' or '9-in-1' combo Antennas, which additionally integrate dedicated antenna elements and cables for Dual-Band / WiFi 6E / WiFi 7 Antennas and GPS/GLONASS in an identical housing. The choice depends on which functions your 4G / LTE Routers or 5G Routers requires.
Can I extend the 2-meter Antenna Cables?
Yes, extension is possible, but should be done carefully. Only use high-quality, double-shielded, low-loss Coaxial Cables (e.g., CLF200 or better) with suitable SMA Coaxial Connectors. Every extension leads to some signal attenuation, so the extension cable should be kept as short as possible to minimize power loss.
