The Best of Three Worlds: Wi-Fi, Fiber & LTE
For complex industrial projects or remote base stations, a standard router is often not enough. The MikroTik NetMetal 5 (RB922) combines all essential interfaces in one device. Via the SFP cage, you can pull fiber optic cables interference-free for kilometers up to the mast. Should this primary line ever fail, the interior of the router saves the day: Simply plug a compatible 3G/4G modem into the miniPCIe slot, insert a SIM card, and RouterOS automatically takes over the LTE fallback! (Note: Pre-drilled holes for additional LTE or Wi-Fi antennas are already prepared in the enclosure).
1300 mW for Long Distances
In the 5 GHz band, the device operates with the modern 802.11ac standard and, combined with the Gigabit Ethernet port, achieves rapid throughput rates. The built-in High Power (HP) wireless card delivers a strong transmission power of 1300 milliwatts (31 dBm). Since the router does not have its own Wi-Fi antennas, you decide via the two RP-SMA connectors whether you use an omnidirectional, sector, or huge grid antenna for kilometer-long point-to-point connections.
A Refrigerator Made of Aluminum
The enormous computing power of the 720 MHz processor and the strong wireless technology produce heat. That's why all the electronics are housed in a massive industrial aluminum enclosure. This NetMetal enclosure is not only protected against water and dust ingress to IP54 standards but also dissipates heat extremely efficiently via passive cooling. Furthermore, the metal reliably shields the internal components from external radio interference.
