Forget Expensive Groundwork: Your Stable Internet Connection for Outbuildings
Do you finally want fast internet in your workshop, office container, or holiday home, but laying a cable is impossible or far too expensive? This is exactly where the Ubiquiti NanoStation 5AC from Ubiquiti Networks comes in as the perfect PTP set. With this powerful directional radio link, you can build a rock-solid, wireless bridge between two buildings. Forget unstable WiFi Repeaters or slow Powerline / DLAN adapters. This system is designed to guarantee a stable and fast connection over long distances, as if you were connected directly to the router.
Performance That Convinces: 450+ Mbit/s Thanks to airMAX ac Technology
While conventional WiFi quickly reaches its limits over longer distances, the NanoStation 5AC uses the advanced airMAX ac protocol. These airMAX ac Components use TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) technology which acts like an intelligent traffic controller for your data packets. The result: no collisions, extremely stable latency, and an impressive real data throughput of over 450 Mbit/s. That's more than enough power for 4K video streaming, connecting IP Cameras, or supplying an entire office with high-speed internet.
Ingeniously Simple: PoE Passthrough and Configuration via Smartphone
Ubiquiti has thought of everything with the NanoStation 5AC. The device is powered via the included Gigabit PoE adapter. The clever part: a second Gigabit Ethernet port can be activated via software to pass power to another device (PoE passthrough). Simply connect an IP camera and power it directly from the NanoStation – a clean and efficient solution. The setup is also revolutionary simple. Instead of climbing a ladder with your laptop, you simply connect to the integrated 2.4 GHz management WiFi with your smartphone and make all the settings conveniently in the UISP™ app.
Ready in Minutes: Effortless Alignment for Maximum Power
To unleash the full power of your long-distance WiFi Bridge, precise alignment is crucial. The NanoStation 5AC makes this extremely easy for you. Both the software and the LEDs directly on the device show you the signal strength in real time. You just need to slowly pan one of the Antennas until you achieve the strongest signal. Thanks to the included pole and wall mount, installation is flexible and quick. This allows you to set up a professional and stable directional radio link in no time.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can I use the NanoStation 5AC as a normal WiFi Router for my phone in the garden?
No, unfortunately, that won't work. Your NanoStation uses a special protocol (airMAX ac) that can't communicate with your phone or laptop. It's designed to build a wireless bridge to a second airMAX Antenna. To get WiFi in your garden, you simply connect a standard WiFi Access Point to the receiving NanoStation.
What exactly is PoE passthrough and how do I use it with my NanoStation?
It's quite simple: PoE passthrough means your NanoStation can pass on the power it receives via the Network cable to another device through its second port. This is super handy if you want to power an IP Camera directly from the NanoStation, for example. This saves you an extra power cable for the camera. You can easily activate this feature in the software.
Do I really have to climb the mast with my laptop to set it up?
Don't worry, it's cleverly designed! Your NanoStation has its own management WiFi. You just connect with your smartphone, open the UISP app, and you can configure everything comfortably from the ground before you finally align the antenna. No dangerous balancing act with a laptop at great heights!
How do I perfectly align my two NanoStations with each other?
That's super easy! There are signal LEDs right on your NanoStation that show you the connection quality in real-time. Additionally, there's an alignment tool in the airOS software. You move one of the Antennas very slowly until the maximum number of LEDs light up. This way, you get the best performance out of your wireless bridge.
Do I really need extra surge protection for outdoor use?
Yes, absolutely! We strongly recommend it to protect your devices. It's best to use two Ethernet surge protectors: one directly at the NanoStation and the second where the cable enters your house. This keeps your NanoStation and your Network safe from lightning strikes.
What's the difference between this NanoStation 5AC and the smaller 'Loco' version?
Good question! The 'Loco' is the more compact version. The main difference is the antenna: this regular NanoStation 5AC has a higher antenna gain (16 dBi), allowing it to achieve longer ranges of over 15 km. It also has two network ports with PoE passthrough. The Loco has a slightly weaker antenna and only one port. So, if you want to bridge the maximum distance or connect an IP camera directly, this model is the one for you.
